I believe the Darksiders seek nothing less than immortality.

The above was found during one of my research trips to the far east. It was not notable in itself, save for the patina of Dark Magiq that could be sensed on its face. Clearly the Darksiders had been studying it. I attempted to unlock any hidden features in the piece, but to no avail. Apparently the Darksiders had stripped away whatever secrets this object held.Soon after making the above discovery, I found this piece. Again, a residue of Dark Magiq could be sensed. This time, however, I noted that both of the emblems bore similar subject matter: dragons. It has long been rumored - and, indeed, some of our own most treasured Histories reference - the existence of spells that will merge a Power with his or her Element, thus creating a new creature: one as immortal as the Element from which each Power derives his or her strength. It seems, then that the Darksiders are searching after something new and terrifying: immortality. Imagine a world where these evil people were unstoppable, unkillable. The world would be swiftly transformed to a living hell of perpetual servitude. And again, one more artifact of magiq which I found coated with the slime of Dark Magiq. Human scholars believe this to be a depiction of the Adam and Eve story, with Eve handing Adam the forbidden fruit while the Evil One looks down upon them. However, there is another possible interpretation: this statuary could depict a creature called a sylph. But this in and of itself creates something of a mystery. The sylph seems to be a creature of legend that is intimately connected with the Element of Life (notice that she is hanging from and almost intertwined with the image of the tree). And Life has usually allied itself with the Dawnwalkers. Nevertheless, this sylph carving was (once again) cloaked with the remnants of the Darksiders' attempts to unlock its secrets. Were they successful? I know not. I only know that all this leads me to fear as I have not feared since I lost my beloved.... Since the dark days when the Truce was last broken.
And I fear those days are to come again.
